Spiderman 3 - Special Edition | Posted By: Jake
It has been announced that SpiderMan 3 will be released to PS3 owners in a 'Special Edition' format! This is a very cool benefit! QJ had this to say about what we will be getting with this edition:
What will we get in this Collector's Edition, you ask? Well, Activision and Sony have teamed up to offer a ton of bonus features including webisodes from the Spider-Man 3 movie, an exclusive interview with producer Avi Arad, and behind the scenes talks with Tobey Maguire, Topher Grace, Thomas Haden Church, James Franco, JK Simmons, and Bruce Campbell who were involved with development. If that enormous list doesn't tickle your fancy then maybe access to special Spider-Man 3 trailers plus other goodies yet to be revealed will. I am very excited about this game. I really enjoyed SpiderMan 2 on PS2 and this one looks like it will be 100% better! Stay tuned for more!Labels: Games

Next Gen Wars Drop Out | Posted By: Jake
CIRCLE Studio, the creators of Without Warning went ahead and completely dropped off the face of the earth without warning (I know that was cheesy.)
"The reports added that CEO Jeremy Heath-Smith informed the company's staff about the bad news the other day. Also, it has been said that CiRCLE has gone into liquidation and will cease operations immediately."
The WW game for PS2 and Xbox was actually a fairly respectable game and I really though that we would see CIRCLE Studio in this battle of next gen consoles. I guess I was sadly mistaken. Lets hope that we don't see anymore decent creators giving up on us.Labels: News

"Wii leads January hardware sales in US" | Posted By: Jake
"According to the preliminary data of the NPD group, the Nintendo Wii leads the January hardware sales in the US. Apparently, it has sold 436,000 units throughout North America. Microsoft's Xbox 360 is in the middle with 294,000 units sold, while the PS3 isn't far behind with 244,000 units.
This preliminary data was allegedly released by Microsoft and has not been officially confirmed by NPD. Molly O'Donnell, group manager for MS' entertainment and devices division said that "Xbox 360 had a fantastic January, and we feel great about our position in the marketplace".
She also added that the X360 experienced an 18 rise in sales compared to the same period last year. We'll be sure to give you more updates about this in the coming days. For now, we all have to make do with this piece of "preliminary data".

Utah gunman - Gamer? | Posted By: Jake
This is an article from QJ.net and the Utah gunman!
"Recently, we reported police findings on the case of Sulejman Talovic, an 18-year-old Bosnian refugee who walked into the Trolley Square Mall in Salt Lake City, Utah and went shooting into the crowd, killing five and wounding four. The police never found any evidence that violent video games may have influenced Talovic. In fact, they never even found any computer game or video game system in Talovic's home.
But now, another lead surfaced: Talovic's friend, Enes Kadic (left pic), claims that his friend Sulejman did play computer games. Kadic, who went to seventh grade with Talovic, said that "combat games, fighting games, Super Mario..." are the sort of games that Talovic liked to play. Talovic also liked to watch movies with violence, his friend said. "He liked watching fighting movies. He liked watching those fist-fighting movies and movies where they shoot each other. He liked watching those type of movies," he added.
According to Kadic, Talovic was quiet and not very talkative. He kept mostly to himself and didn't leave his house after school. At least once a week, though, Kadic would convince his shy friend to watch movies at his house or play video games at Talovic's house.
This new evidence leaves us all out in the open. Still, the fact that Talovic did play computer games is a poor indication that Talovic was convinced to shoot people because of gaming influence. His eight-grade math teacher at Hillside Intermediate School, Virginia Lee, said that Talovic was just a young man who wanted to be social, to belong.
Talovic's friend Kadic says that he still cannot believe it was his friend who did the shooting claiming that "it's pretty crazy to me he did that. He's the last person on Earth I thought would do that." Talovic may have been any one of us, and we do feel sorry for his victims.
The gunman might have had his reasons for going postal that day, yet must we always point blame on the gaming industry? After all, we've never heard of anybody else going on a shooting rampage after a round of playing Super Mario..."Labels: News

NBA Street Homecourt - PS3/Xbox 360 | Posted By: Jake
That's right folk... NBA Street Homecourt is out in stores! Although, it may not be easy to get your hands on due to the lack of quantity. EA has truly outdone themselves on this one! I am not usually a very big fan of basketball video games, but I must say that this one is quite impressive. Not only are the graphics great, but the gameplay is quite fun.
I highly recommend this title as one to own. This particular NBA video game is much more appealing and just plain more fun than the alternatives available for PS3! This game has 3 on 3 street ball and even a few WNBA stars awaiting you!
Buy: [NBA Street Homecourt] (PS3) Buy: [NBA Street Homecourt] (Xbox 360)

Firmware 1.51 Hack a Fake? | Posted By: Jake
You have probably heard about the so-called firmware hack for version 1.51 if you have been browsing the web for PS3 news. If not, let me inform you.
There have been numerous claims on the web about a 'hack' for the FW 1.51. It turns out that this is not entirely true. The so-called 'hack' for the firmware has not turned out to be a hack but more of a network update bypass, at best.
The mod is pretty much only any good if you spend all of your PS3 time browsing the Playstation Network Store.
Here is what QJ has to say about their findings:
You can now access the official PS3 store without updating your current PS3 Firmware version! - Only for now. You can now play PS3 games on-line, without updating your current PS3 Firmware! - Fake. You may be able to downgrade the PS3's Firmware through this circumvention technique. - Fake. You may be able to 'install' your own desired PS3 store items using this method. - Fake The only good this mod will do for you it seems is lets you browse the PSN Store without updating your firmware. I really don't see the benefit to this whatsoever. At this point in time the network updates are required to do pretty much anything, such as playing games online.
All in all, don't waste your time.Labels: Firmware, Mods
